The Learning Together Changing Lives After-School program is a partnership program between International School #45, Best-Self Behavioral Health and CEURE. The goal of the project is two-fold: to provide students attending School International #45 with intensive instruction to support development and growth of Literacy skills; and to provide Buffalo State education majors with clinically-rich, intensive professional development opportunities to implement evidence-based practices.
The program was developed to support the recruitment, training and ongoing supervision of Buffalo State education majors to serve as tutors, working with small groups of students afterschool. Initially, the program was designed as a “stand-alone” program, operating separately from other programs taking place at School 45, either during the school day or after-school. The program is designed to provide direct and supplemental ELA instruction, using a research-based approach and formal curriculum aligned with NY State Common Core Learning Standards.
